POSITION SUMMARY: The position of safety coordinator provides safety and health support to personnel including visitors and customers. To enforce and improve corporate safety and health programs and coordinate safety training programs. The safety coordinator will maintain safety and health regulations and provide support to all personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of manufacturing (or the ability to learn)
· Experience with AS400.
· Displays organization and excellent communication skills.
· Possesses high accuracy, attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
· Previous OSHA training
· Exhibits collaborative skills
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides technical safety and health support to production and corporate employees.
· Works with Human Resources and Document control to prepare written safety and health programs and policies.
· Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
· Collaborates with managers to help develops annual company safety and health goals.
· Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment. While working with vendors like Fastenal to get proper PPE and safety supplies. Candidate will also update badges for PPE vending machines and troubleshoot if issues arise with the vending equipment.
· Orchestrates emergency drills (fire and tornado drills), first responder training, building audits and annual hearing tests.
· Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, SDS entries and systems, Forklift training records and postings, electronic files etc).
· Establishes and reviews process-operating procedures/records/policies and provides input for safety and health improvements.
· Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur.
· Leads investigation of work place injuries and reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
· Audits practices and records of manufacturing plants to ensure compliance with company programs and federal/state occupational safety and health regulations.
· Monitors lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims.
· Assesses potential hazards on all equipment and ensures proper guarding is available and properly used.
· Reviews plant safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports and follows up as necessary.
· Work with employees to ensure all hazards and issues are acknowledged and preventative steps are put in place
